Privacy Policy
Vellum Ink is built so your writing stays yours. There are no accounts, no ads, and no third-party trackers. This page describes everything the app stores and everything that can leave your iPad.
Your notes stay with you
Everything you write and draw is stored on your iPad. If you are signed into iCloud, Apple's CloudKit syncs your notes between your own devices inside your private iCloud database — we cannot read it, and it never touches our servers.
Posting is explicit, and only to places you set up
Vellum Ink can send a page's handwriting image or its text to connectors you create yourself — for example your own Cloudflare worker or a webhook you control. Nothing is sent automatically: a page leaves the device only when you tap Post, after a preview of exactly what will be sent. The destination infrastructure belongs to you, not to us.
Anonymous usage analytics
To understand which features matter, the app records a small number of anonymous events (such as "a note was created"). This data:
- is tied to a random install identifier, never to you, your device identifiers, or your Apple account;
- contains no note content, handwriting, or personal information;
- is never used for advertising or shared with data brokers, and is not used to track you across other apps or websites;
- can be turned off any time in Settings → Share anonymous analytics.
Feedback
If you send feedback from inside the app, we receive the message you type. Your email address is included only if you choose to add it, and is used only to reply to you.
Supporting Vellum
Every feature in Vellum Ink is free. If you choose to support the app, the contribution is processed by Stripe on Stripe's own site — we never see your card details, and no purchase is required for anything in the app.
What we never collect
No location, no contacts, no photos beyond what you place on a page, no microphone, no advertising identifiers, no cross-app tracking of any kind.
Data retention and deletion
Notes live on your device and in your iCloud; deleting them there deletes them everywhere we know of. Anonymous analytics events cannot be traced back to you, and you can stop sending them at any time. To have feedback messages deleted, email us.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the updated page will appear here with a new date before the change takes effect.
